O Taste & See that the Lord is Good

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.  Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together”  It is always good to bless the Lord.  To praise His name.  To magnify and lift up the name of Jesus!

I love the scents & flavors of Fall!  Campfires.  Smores roasted over an open flame.  Big pots of Chili.  Hot Apple Cider.  Pumpkin rolls and pies.  Apple Crisp.   And who can forget the wonderful smell of burning leaves!

My favorite holiday is in the fall – Thanksgiving!  It is an amazing day of food and fellowship!  It is a great day with the only purpose being family, friends, fellowship and food.  Doesn’t get better than that!  No stress on the perfect gifts or staying up too late wrapping.  Just good folks and good food.

Thanksgiving is a day to pause and thank God for His goodness to us!  In my family, each person is given an index card to write what they are thankful for that year.  We gather the cards and before we eat we read each card calling out to God all that we are thankful for.  Over the years I have saved these cards.  It is awesome to look back and remember what God did and who He brought to our table.

“Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is Good!!!”  How has He been good to you this year?  How have you seen His faithfulness?  What are you thankful for?  Who are you thankful for?

Take some time to meditate on the Goodness of God.  Thank Him. Thank Him for the others He has brought into your life this last year.  Celebrate God’s mercies everyday.  Live with a thankful heart.

“Oh Taste & See that the Lord He is Good!  Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”  Psalm 34:8

Thank You, Lord, for Your goodness and kindness to me.  Thank You for calling us to pray.  I love meeting with You each day.  What a blessing You are Lord!  You are so kind!  You are so good!  I love You, Lord!

18 years ago we were gripped with that question.  How hungry were we for God?In January, 2005, I set aside the first 7 days to fast and pray.  During that time, I had a thought for a local pastor.  I went to him the next week.  "Pastor Ken, I believe Portage Christian...

Monday night, 9pm.  I was praying on the phone with a friend.  We took a minute to just wait on the Lord.  Was there anything He wanted to say to us.   I think it is a good habit to see if He has anything to say.  Often I've just rushed...
