“There’s no one else just like me
There’s no one else just like me
Thank God! Thank God! There’s no one else like me!
From the top of my head to the tip of my toes
From the back of my heals to the front of my nose
I’m me. I’m me. God made me to be me.”
I loved this song! Back in the 1980’s I taught it to children in Vacation Bible School. Oh the fun we had – picture the motions from Head & Shoulders Knees and Toes and you can just about visualize the hand motions we used. LOL!
But the words are so true! There is NO ONE else like you. You are unique! YOU-nique YOU!!!! God made you special. You are one of a kind!
Often I felt like people would say, “THANK GOD there’s no one else like you!” HA! Reality is we can thank God that we’re all created individually. We were made in the image of God. We have different skill sets. Different gifts, talents, abilities and callings. No matter how similar you might be to another person, there is no one just like you.
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. ” Psalm 139:13,14
My sons are identical twins. While their DNA is that of an identical twin, God still made them each unique. When they were babies, people would stare and compare trying to tell them apart. They would put them side by side and do what we referred to as the “lab rat” experiment. “Ah, I see. Luke has a freckle on his finger. Drew has freckle on his check…..” Comparing the smallest details to see how they were different.
There were so adorable!!! I loved having twins! As infants we had to mark the bottom of Luke’s foot with a marker so we could make sure not to mix them up. They truly looked identical! The nursery workers at church always appreciated the different colored socks we would use to distinguish them. Drew was in blue; Luke was in red.
As they grew, their uniqueness began to come out. They were not the same person. They were created UNIQUE! Their personalities, temperament and interests were very different. Their passions, while similar at times, were specific to them as individuals.
As they grew, they grew in their independence. They wanted people to see their uniqueness, not their similarities. They were done being “lab rats”. They wanted to be known as individuals.
It has been wonderful to see them grow as individuals and into the unique call they each have in God. It has been amazing to see them each become who God created them to be.
God made you unique too! He has a specific call for you. He has a destiny for you just waiting to be believed in. Step up and step into all He has for you. Don’t try to be someone else. You are not your pastor. You are not your spouse. You are not your parents. You are you!
Recently when considering a decision for my life I was talking with my sons. While encouraging me to go for it, my son made a profound statement, “Mom, you be you. You be you.” So that is what I’m doing.
I don’t have to be anyone else, but who God created me to be. I get to be me! For years, I tried to be who I thought others wanted me to be. In the mean time, I was missing out on who God wanted me to be. No more! I will be the best me I can be!!!
I am running into what God has for me. He has a task, a goal, a path just for me. His calling for me is sure! It is ordained by Him. I’m pressing on and pushing into it!
And the same goes for you. You be YOU! There is only one of you on this planet. God needs you to step up and take your place. Fulfill your unique call. Only you can do it. Will the real you rise to the occasion? Oh I hope so!
Prayer for Today: God, thank You for making me an individual. Thank You for the unique plan You have for me. I choose to run into all that You have for me. No holding back God. I want to be the person You created me to be! Thank You there is no one else like me! Thank You for Your unique design for me. I love You, Lord Jesus!
