Do you remember elementary and middle school math? We learned about whole numbers – I think we later called them prime numbers. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 17, 19, 23, 31, 43, etc. These number are not divisible by anything other than themselves. They are whole by themselves. They stand alone.
Being single has been a challenge. It wasn’t my desire. I hadn’t been 1 for over 20 years. It was always “us” or “we” or “ours”, not “my” or “I” or “mine”. It has taken five years to wrap my head around it all, but I can say today that one is a WHOLE number.
For years I felt that pieces of me were missing. Divorce divides. Just a fact. And it isn’t a clean break. It is messy. It is painful. It is hurtful. It is a tearing of your very soul. What was joined in a union with God never to be separated by man is suddenly ripped apart leaving damage and missing parts on every side.
No one is immune in divorce. The husband, the wife, the kids or grandkids, the friends. Everyone is touched when the tearing begins. Life becomes fragmented.
Yesterday, I shared about being still at the conference and knowing that we belonged to our Father God. Knowing the security in Him as His son or daughter. Today I will share a part of what He spoke over me.
In my quietness, He shared how He wanted to spend more time with me. (He really does like us!) And He wanted to take me up higher. It was like I was soaring with Him. He wanted me to come up higher to see things from His perspective, not my own.
What happened next was amazing – and a bit crazy too! He began to restore me to wholeness. He called the fragments of my life back to me. Those pieces that were left scattered on the ruins of my life. The pieces of my heart that were gone. The pieces of my mind. Everything I thought was lost of me God was restoring.
Years ago I heard an amazing message by Pastor Ken Miller about the Feeding of the 5000 in John 6. Jesus used one little boy’s lunch to feed a multitude. And then He gathered the fragments so NOTHING would be lost. I went home that day and wrote a song about it. Today I hear Him speaking it again “I’ll gather all your fragments so nothing is lost. I will restore the dreams you thought had died. If I gathered all the pieces from just 5 loaves 2 fishes I can gather all your fragments and I’ll say Nothing’s Lost!”
God wants to gather the fragments in your life too! He doesn’t gather them because He’s cheap and wants to use them again. He gathers the fragments in our lives so we can be WHOLE. He desires we are made complete in Him.
He is the Restorer. He is the Healer. He is our pathway to wholeness and completeness.
Nothing’s Lost
A little boy with just his lunch came to hear Jesus speak,
Not knowing his piece in the Master’s plan
Yet willingly he gave all he had to give for little is so much in the Master’s hand
And as the people sat down, Jesus blessed and broke the bread and over 5000 were fed
Not only was there plenty from just 5 loaves 2 fish after everyone had eaten Jesus said
”Gather up the fragments that nothing may be lost” And I hear Him saying once again
CHORUS
He’ll take the fragments of our lives
Those hidden tiny pieces that we thought were all but gone
He’ll take the fragments of our heart,
Those hurt and broken places and restore all that was lost,
He’ll take the fragments of our minds,
Those dreams we are thought had died and breathe His life anew
If He gathered all the pieces from just 5 loaves 2 fishes
He can gather all your fragments and He’ll say, “Nothings lost”
Maybe you’ve come feeling all hope is lost
Well that’s not the Lord’s plan for you
Or maybe you think “God just can’t use me
You don’t know all that I’ve been through”
Well maybe I don’t know all that you have done
But there is Someone who knows and He cares for you
He loved you, He died for you and He longs for you to come
I hear His voice calling out to you
“I’ll gather up the fragments that nothing will be lost”
Oh I hear Him saying once again
CHORUS
He’ll take the fragments of our lives
Those hidden tiny pieces that we thought were all but gone
He’ll take the fragments of our heart
Those hurt and broken places and restore all that was lost
He’ll take the fragments of our minds
Those dreams we thought had died and breathe His life anew
If He gathered all the pieces from just 5 loaves 2 fishes
He can gather all your fragments and He’ll say, “Nothings lost”
